American
Red Cross Youth Corps - Skyline High School Branch
The
American Red Cross Youth Corps was started at Skyline
High School at the beginning of the 2001-2002 school
year. The group is directly affiliated with the Mile
High Red Cross and is one of approximately 20 high
school groups in the state.
Skyline's
ARCYC branch meets weekly and has approximately 20
active members.
Students
this year have engaged in volunteer activities in
Denver and also have participated in school projects.
For example, students raised over $700 for President
Bush's American Fund for Afghan Children, have tutored
local sixth graders, raised money for the Red Cross's
disaster relief efforts at Longmont's Oktoberfest
celebration, acted as ushers at a Longmont Symphony
concert and have been involved in various other school
projects.
This
year's Youth Corp is lead by Julie Wood ('03) and
is actively seeking new members for the 2002-03 school
year. Incoming freshman are especially encouraged
to become a part of Skyline's American Red Cross Youth
Corps.
