Art Club

Art Club is for students who are interested in the arts; they do not need to be an artist. In the art club, we do community art projects, such as face painting, murals, making holiday cards and ornaments as fundraisers,
participating in school-wide projects such as murals for other classrooms, banners, flyers, etc.

Last summer the art club raised money to go to Europe for two weeks. There were 12 students and two art teachers that traveled to Italy, France and England to study art and to experience the
culture of those countries. It was an awesome trip!

This year in May we are taking art club students to Santa Fe, New Mexico for a weekend to visit galleries and museums. It is our hope to take students next year to New York City to visit the wonderful art museums there as well as see some Broadway plays and get a tour of the city.

The art club consists of an average of 15 students from grade 9 - 12 and the two directors. We elect officers including president, vice-president, secretary, treasure, public relations and a historian.

The meetings are usually once a week, right after school where we work on various art projects or fundraisers.

It provides students with hands-on projects and a place to talk about what is happening in the art world. Members are involved in community service using art. There are planned trips to local galleries and the museums.
