What is it?

The Booster Club is a mixture of parents, relatives, alumni and friends bonded by a common desire to support the students of Skyline High School through physical and monetary methods.

Our primary purpose, according to the by-laws, is: "to aid and encourage the development of Skyline High School and its students through the support of school activity programs, and to Longmont Colorado, and patrons of the St. Vrain Valley School District".

How is it done?

The major method of support is through funding. Money in any educational area is at a premium, and Skyline High School is no exception. The Booster Club, through such projects as athletic program sales, concession and clothing sales, bingo, club dues and a wide assortment of other activities, attempts to supplement the allotted funds received from the school district.

What has been done in the past?

Through the efforts of the Booster Club, the following and more have been purchased in full, or in matching funds for the Skyline High School students.

Football knee braces, tablecloths, baseball scoreboard, enclosed trophy case, computers, tennis / swimming / boys basketball / girls basketball / gymnastic warm-up suits, weightroom equipment, advertisements, calendars, books, athletic equipment, scholarship funds, flowers, coffee pots, pitching machines, senior project funds, banners, chartered buses, forensics trips, just to list a few.

How official is the club?

The Skyline Booster Club, Inc. became an official corporation in 1985 with legally filed by-laws and structure. We hold a nonprofit status with the Internal Revenue Service and the Colorado State government, and have been licensed by the state for holding raffles and bingo.

Regularly scheduled meetings allow for treasury reports as well as members to voice opinions, ideas and complaints. All paid members ( in good standing ) have a vote in the affairs of the corporation as well as a voice as to who is elected to the Board of Directors. Any member has the opportunity ( if desired ) to be elected and serve as a member of the board in the capacity of president, vice-president, secretary or treasurer. The Booster Club is well recognized by the school administration and works hand-in-hand with them on many occasions.

Who does the Booster Club serve?

The Booster Club attempts to help every faction of the student body at Skyline High School on a "matching funds" basis. This means we will match what has been raised by the group through their efforts for a worthwhile project. This could be anything from the Honor Society's scholarship, to the senior class' annual school project. From speech to sports, the Booster Club wants to help whenever and wherever possible.

Obviously, one of the major users of the club are the sports department. This is due to the high cost of sports equipment and uniforms today.

Obviously, the more members and support for fund raising activities that the club has, the more we can raise the directions and amounts of money contributed within the school departments.

How can I help?

1. By joining! This gives you the ability to have a voice in the operation and direction of the Booster Club.

2. By attending meetings! This allows you to be part of the support and activities that are planned by the club.

3. By paying your dues! Obviously, this aids in the monetary support directed to the students of Skyline High School.

4. By participation in club activities! As in anything else, PEOPLE are required to plan and execute any activity properly. With the help of the members there isn't anything that the club can't do.

How much are the dues?

The dues are paid on annual basis on September 15th. They are broken down into two categories:

$5.00 Senior Citizen Membership - voting member of Booster Club.

$10.00 General Membership - voting member of Booster Club

When and where can I join?

Anytime. The Skyline Booster Club, Inc. will have a table set up for registration of new members and renewal of current members during August of each year at Skyline High School at school registration days and during events like "The Taste of Skyline". This is the first major opportunity for new members to join. However, it only takes a phone call to find out when the next meeting at the high school is planned, and you not only can attend the meeting, but you can join there as well. Any of the Board of Directors will be glad to meet with you and take your application throughout the year.
