Peer
Link Program
In
the 2000-2001 school year, Skyline High School incorporated
into its school program a new ninth grade and new
student orientation program called Link.
A
national program, Link is a tried and tested system
of encouraging new students' success, good work ethic,
strong communication skills and leadership skills
in both mentee and mentor students.
In this program,
juniors and seniors act as mentors
to incoming 9th graders and other new students.
The Link leaders act as a first and continuing contact
for mentee students throughout the year and are used
as a first line of defense against problems which
new students might naturally experience in their first
year of high school, specifically, adjustment issues,
attendance and academic failure.
We
have a lot of fun in this program and truly this is
because of the incredibly wonderful students that
run it.
